Nurture creativity through contests

Nurture creativity through contests

Kiwanis clubs often “bust their buttons” over the creativity and leadership abilities of children who belong to the K-Kids clubs they sponsor. One way to nurture this creativity—and provide much-deserved recognition—is to encourage K-Kids to participate in contests to identify top speakers, essay writers, artists, scrapbook organizers, and leaders. Contest themes for the current year include:

Cover of the scrapbook kept this past year by the K-Kids club at Mamie Lou Gross Elementary School, winner of the Georgia District’s 2005-05 scrapbook contest.

ESSAY

How can K-Kids help you become a better leader?

SPEECH

How has K-Kids made an impact in your school and community?

ART

Prepare a drawing that demonstrates K-Kids members serving others.

Contest entries must be submitted by April 1 to your K-Kids district administrator who judges and selects one overall district winner from each category. Winning district entries are then sent on to the International Office to determine overall winners.

Rules, entry forms, and additional information can be found online. For comments or to receive information about future Builders Club contests, e-mail or phone the Service Leadership Programs Department, ext. 167.
