Embark on a service adventure
A person’s travel itinerary may list rainforest monkeys, royal temples,
snake charmers, and volcanoes.
A
person’s service plans may include teaching children, assisting at a medical
clinic, and protecting a river environment.
A person’s social agenda may prioritize new friendships.
A Kiwanian can do all three at once.
In partnership with Kiwanis International, Ambassadors for Children (AFC)
announces seven “voluntourism” packages for Kiwanians. The experiences
blend touring adventures with service opportunities and the fun of fellowship.
Future AFC/Kiwanis events are:
- Raft down the Sarapiqui River through a lush Costa Rican rainforest,
where hummingbirds buzz, toucans chatter, woodpeckers peck, monkeys
monkey around, and
sloths
laze in treetops. AFC offers three opportunities to visit Costa Rica:
April 1-8, May 19-26, and October 21-28. In addition to enjoying one
of Earth’s most splendid ecosystems, volunteers will work side-by-side
with residents at the Sarapiqui Conservation Learning Center. Click

- Walk in the footsteps of kings in Bangkok, Thailand’s Grand Palace.
Scheduled May 31 to June 10, the Thai experience promises a boat trip
along the Chao Phya River, balanced by a five-day project to build a
classroom and possibly help teach children in an area hit hard by the
2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Click here

- Discover one of the world’s great civilizations while exploring Mayan
ruins in El Salvador, June 17-24. Local Kiwanians have established Villa
