Close in on the action
To get the best pictures, photographers oftentimes must be intrusive.
If you stand apart from the action, surrounding distractions will overwhelm the main subject of your photograph.
This photograph, for example, has potential, but where's its real story? The walls, ceiling, bystanders, and other objects divert attention from the real action.
Here's the story: a man serving a meal to a woman.

Other photography tips:
Polynesian paradise
This photographer waded into the surf-or used a telephoto lens-to capture this image of a man rowing a child across beautiful blue Tahitian water. Notice, there's not a lot of unnecessary water in the foreground.
Teachers selected deserving students, whom the Aimeho Moorea, French Polynesia, Kiwanis club treated to a party on the beach.
Going to Jamaica
Though Jamaica is a tropical paradise, many of its children suffer in destitution and poverty. September 17-21, 2008, Kiwanis members are invited to join International President Dave Curry and his wife, Eva, on the Caribbean island for an adventure (English) that mixes touring with volunteering.
In addition to strolling along the beach and enjoying Jamaican nightlife, participants will assemble playground equipment, paint schools, and interact with children.
Convention clarification
Registration fees for the 2008 Kiwanis International Convention in Orlando, Florida, June 26-29, are:
- US$175 before April 25
- $200 if postmarked after April 25
- $225 on-site (after June 13, you must register on-site.
Former CKI President returns
University of Georgia President Michael Adams will speak at the 2008 Kiwanis International Convention. Adams served as 1969-70 Circle K International President.
For One Day, wear Kiwanis
To help members proclaim their Kiwanis pride on Kiwanis One Day, April 5, Kiwanis International offers a T-shirt designed specifically for the organization's global celebration of service.
To purchase your Kiwanis One Day T-shirts, contact the Kiwanis Family Store at 317-875-8755 or 800-549-2647, ext. 411, and request item number 15300.
Watch Dave
Kiwanis International President Dave Curry enjoys learning about clubs that serve their communities year-round. Watch Dave's March video in which he describes how the Kiwanis Club of State College, Pennsylvania, fills every month with good deeds.
Love, marriage, and Kiwanis
Falling in love, Matthew Cole says, was easy. Getting married in France was fun-a true Kiwanis International affair.
After the Tampa, Florida, Kiwanian and his fiancée Carolyn decided to wed in southern France, Matt initiated e-mail communications with the Kiwanis Club of Arles Carmargue.
"I just thought they could recommend a good place to eat," Matt recalls. "But the Kiwanis experience far exceeded my wildest expectations."
Arles Kiwanians escorted the wedding party on a tour of their city and introduced them to the mayor. On the day of the wedding, local Kiwanians were in attendance. And when the newlyweds stepped outside, they were surprised to be serenaded by a 40-piece group playing music from the Provence region of France as well as Celtic tunes.
