Meet Alvin Hill

Alvin HillCLUB: Kiwanis Club of Russellville, Arkansas

WINNER: Alvin is the March 2005 winner of KIWANIS Connected’s reader-participation contest. He submitted a Speak Up survey and won a Kiwanis International Leadership shirt. A credit to his altruistic spirit, Alvin didn’t realize his submission could win him anything; he merely was filling out the survey for the good of the publication.

INTERESTS: When Alvin isn’t taking part in Kiwanis activities, he enjoys woodworking, golf, and fishing on Lake Dardanelle near his Russellville home.

SERVICE: Alvin is involved in many of his club’s service projects. “I don’t have a favorite project,” he says. “They’re all my favorite. We recently read with kindergarteners. I liked that a lot.”

BARREL OF LAUGHS: Alvin is involved with his club’s sponsored Builders Club. “We just did a project where we painted the trash barrels at their school. That was so much fun.”

DRAWN IN: Alvin was drawn to be a Kiwanian in 1994, because he wanted to help people. “I just wanted to be involved in the community,” he says. “I wanted to help kids. A lot of kids don’t have people who will spend time with them, and they want adults to pay attention to them. It means a lot to them.”
