Aiken, who is a teacher and a singer, appeared before the House Subcommittee on Foreign Operations, Export Financing, and Related Programs as a United States Fund for UNICEF ambassador. On behalf of the US Fund, he encouraged the representatives to continue supporting UNICEF’s work and the partnership with Kiwanis International’s Worldwide Service Project.

“Thanks to the global efforts by UNICEF, Kiwanis International, and other partners, 70 percent of the world’s households now use iodized salt, which protects 91 million newborns from iodine deficiency disorders,” Aiken told the subcommittee.
