Builders celebrate 30 years in Kiwanis family
“B0001” is the club identification number presented by Kiwanis International
to the George M. Verity Middle School Builders Club
on October 1, 1975. The number indicates that the Ashland, Kentucky, club
was the first Builders Club to organize as a Kiwanis International sponsored
program. Today, there are more than 1,100 Builders Clubs with more than
39,000 members in 16 nations.
In October 2005, the Kiwanis family will celebrate Builders Club’s 30th
anniversary. For three decades, the program has promoted its four objects:
To provide opportunities for working together in service
to school and community.
To develop leadership potential.
To foster the development of strong moral character.
To encourage loyalty to school, community, and nation.
Kiwanis clubs and other sponsored programs, such as Circle K and Key
Club, are encouraged to plan local celebrations of Builders Club’s 30th
anniversary. The October 1 birthday is close to Kiwanis Family Month in
November; so, the observance of both events can be coordinated.
Kiwanis International will release more details about Builders Club’s
anniversary as the October 1 birthday approaches. |
