K-Kids offer sweet messages
The 40 K-Kids at Barkley Elementary School in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania,
sold “candy grams” to spread love and cheer this past Valentine’s Day.
The club had a difficult time deciding how much to charge for the sweet
treats, explains K-Kid Linnea Phillips.
“After many motions and discussions about the price, the students decided
25 cents was what the student body could afford,” she says. “We sold them
for a full school week and called a special meeting on a Friday afternoon
to make and deliver the candy grams in time for Valentine’s Day.”
Each candy gram was packaged in a small bag of candy with an attached
message students wrote when they purchased them. The K-Kids sold 949 candy
grams and made a profit of $173.26. At the school’s end-of-the-year picnic,
the K-Kids will select charities to receive the funds.
