Musical member donates talent
The Golden K of Hope, Arkansas, is proud of its fundraising
“American Idol.”
Member
Edward J. Cooper wrote and published a history of Hempstead County titled
Farmer’s Paradise. Included in the book are many songs Edward
wrote related to local history. Fittingly enough, the book became a CD.
Many Hope musicians and singers donated their time and talent to produce
and narrate the CD, as did other community members.
The result, so far, is 500 CDs sold, netting the club $5,000.
One track on the recording is devoted to Edward’s favorite service organization
and is titled Kiwanis Acronym with lyrics such as:
Kiwanis, Kiwanis, our motto is to build.
‘K’ stands for knowledge.
‘I’ for ideals.
‘W’ is for working, harvesting the fields.
‘A’ is for the anthems, oh, how we love to sing.
‘N’ is for our nation, oh, let freedom ring.
‘I’ for inspiration from the flag unfurled.
And ‘S’ stands for our service to children, the children of the world.
Kiwanis, Kiwanis, our motto is to build.”
