Capture, preserve projects on new DVDs

Attention members of Builders Club and K-Kids: Do you have photos or digital video of your service and fundraising projects? If so, Kiwanis International wants to see what you do.

Builders Club members at Camp Verde Middle School take part in an Adopt-A-Grandparent Program. The Builders Club members visit their adopted grandparents at least twice a month.Kiwanis staff members are creating two new DVDs, which will feature Builders Club and K-Kids in action. One DVD will serve as an educational tool aimed at Kiwanis clubs, educators, and other supporters of Service Leadership Programs. The second DVD will be helpful in recruiting members, as well as soliciting support of other service partners.

“With an enthusiastic response from club members and advisors, Kiwanis International can create fun and informative DVDs,” says Lisa Pyron, elementary school programs specialist. “What better way to tell the Kiwanis story than to hear it from our young Kiwanis leaders!”

K-Kids club members at Leesville Elementary School keep busy with several projects each year, including a lollygrams sale for Valentine’s Day. Tips for taking better photos and digital video are available online. If you don’t have photos or video but would like to take part, interview members about their involvement, asking, “What does Builders Club or K-Kids mean to you and your community?” Then send the videotape and photos to Kiwanis International.

Kiwanis International needs permission to use the photos and videos; so, a convenient photo and video consent form has been created. Parents and guardians of Builders Club and K-Kids members who are photographed or appear on video need to complete and return the consent form.
