Report club postal code, enhance online tools
The International Office needs club’s postal/ZIP codes to create better search options in the Club Locator and other useful resources. Clubs are encouraged to include their postal codes on their club election reports and in other reporting they send to the International Office.
Currently, the Club Locator, which lists club’s meeting dates, times, and locations, allows users to search for Kiwanis clubs based only on a club’s country/state/province—and sends users to a scroll-down list of club names. By including the postal code of club meeting places, however, prospective members and Kiwanians alike would have the option to search a five-, 10- or 25-mile radius for clubs in a particular area.
“Our hope is to gather clubs’ postal codes and roll out a better search option for the Club Locator this summer,” says Scott Smith, chief technical officer at the International Office.
In addition to boosting the Club Locator, gathering postal codes will allow clubs conducting membership drives and those involved in new-club building to generate better prospective member lists through more accurately tailored Dun & Bradstreet resource lists.
