Sealing a deal with Boys and Girls Clubs
The Kiwanis International Board voted this past April to establish a working partnership with Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA).
The two organizations are in the process of executing a memorandum of understanding for a relationship that promises many benefits for both:
-
Boys and Girls Clubs of America will encourage its 4,000 clubs in the United States and other nations to invite Kiwanis clubs to visit and possibly meet in BGCA facilities.
-
Kiwanians will be encouraged to host BGCA speakers at meetings.
-
There always will be opportunities for joint service projects.
-
Kiwanis International can sponsor—and judge—BGCA’s Youth of the Year program.
-
Kiwanis’ Service Leadership Programs members will have the chance to volunteer in BGCA’s activities—especially sports and recreation programs.
-
The partnership bodes well for both organizations’ memberships.
“Boys & Girls Clubs of America is the fastest growing youth service organization in the world, and they are focusedon leadership and character development for young people,” says Kiwanis International Executive Director and CEO Rob Parker.“Kiwanis is totally committed to serving the children of the world and to leadership and character development that leads to life-changing service. This partnership will be one of the most natural and dynamic partnerships we have ever developed.”
Other opportunities could include a new Kiwanis club in conjunction with each Boys and Girls Club, youth leadership curriculum sharing, and Key Leader events at Boys and Girls Clubs. |
