Administrator earns Key Club top honor
Indiana District administrator Dave Wohler has been named as Key Club International’s 2006-07 Key of Honor recipient. The honor is Key Club International’s top award and is given each year to an individual who is a crucial supporter of Key Club and has made a long-term impact on the organization. Dave will receive the award during the 2007 Key Club International Convention in Orlando, Florida, this summer.

“Dave has inspired many of the Key Club youth to reach beyond their imaginations,” says Key Club Indiana District governor Scott Quigley.
“Caring, leadership, character building, and inclusiveness; the Core Values of Key Club. You will not find a person who exemplifies those values more than does Dave,” echoes past Kiwanis Indiana District governor Pat Hawkins.
Dave, who is a member of the Kiwanis Club of College Park-Indianapolis, Indiana, began working with teenagers as a high school biology teacher in his home state, Montana. That’s also when he began serving as a Key Club advisor and Montana District board administrator.
Dave moved to Indiana to join the Service Leadership Programs staff at Kiwanis International, and he soon became assistant administrator to Key Club’s Indiana District. He later assumed the role of district administrator, a position he’s held for about 20 years.
It is said that Dave has attended almost every district and International convention during his Key Club service in Montana and Indiana. In fact, his commitment to Key Club is so deeply rooted, the only vacation time he takes from his job as Sponsored Programs manager is to travel with the Indiana District tour group to the Key Club International Convention.
“In the Montana District, they have created an award in (Dave’s) name honoring outstanding Key Club members,” says 2005-06 Key Club International Trustee Nicholas Shreffler. “He is someone who has changed my life for the better. Dave inspired me to go for every little thing I could dream of, and he helped me every step of the way.” |
