Circle K’ers gear up for convention,
sixth-annual LSSP
Hundreds of Circle K’ers are heading to Boston on August 11 for the 51st Annual Circle K International Convention, but some will arrive a few days early.
The sixth annual Large Scale Service Project (LSSP) will bring Circle K’ers and Kiwanians to Brockton, Massachusetts, on August 7 for a community-service project and fellowship activities. Circle K’ers will work with the Old Colony YMCA’s Big Brothers/Big Sisters program on a three-day service project and join a field trip with the children.
The LSSP committee hopes to have at least 180 Circle K’ers participate in the project this year.
“The Youth Division of the YMCA in Brockton has been so great to work with,” says Erin Rowe, LSSP logistics chairwoman. “They understand the importance of service to our communities and look forward to CKI coming for three days.”
After the LSSP is finished, participants will head over to Boston for the convention. Here’s a glimpse at a few things planned for this year:
- House of Delegates and caucus sessions
- Club Awards and Service session
- Governors Gala Reception and Dance, block parties, and farewell dance
- Speaker Josh Shipp, who will share his life story about being abandoned and abused as a child, and how he continues to encourage everyone to overcome struggles.
- The Service Fair, an annual hit showcasing district projects and service partner information.
- Many workshops devoted to officer training, membership, leadership training, and much more!
