Meet Archie D. “Pete” Duncan

Archie D. Kiwanis Club of Charleston, South Carolina

Member since: 1986.

Kiwanis International Foundation (KIF) support: Diamond-Level Hixson, Heritage Society, Tablet of Honor, President’s Advisory Council.

Pete’s KIF motivation: “I believe it’s important to make a difference, and the foundation offers an opportunity to make a difference even beyond my lifetime.”

Favorite service projects: Built a cabin for the Hole in the Wall Gang, a Connecticut camp for children who have cancer and serious blood diseases. He also helped raise US$250,000 to build a neonatal intensive care unit at the Ruth and Billy Graham NICU Center in Asheville, North Carolina.

Recruiting tip/ice-breaker: “Ask people simply, ‘Do you like kids?’”

Summer fun: “I took my grandkids on a vacation trip to the mountains in North Carolina.”
