Past President Moler led
international development
James M. “Jim” Moler, a Kiwanian who led the
organization’s development in Europe and Asia, died August 4, 2005, in
his hometown of Charles Town, West Virginia.
Jim was a former teacher, principal, banker,
and served in the West Virginia legislature from 1973 to 1980.
He joined the Charles Town Kiwanis
club in January 1938. He served as club president, lieutenant
governor, treasurer, and governor of the West Virginia District . He also
served as chairman of the Kiwanis International Committee on Boys and
Girls Work and was a member and chairman of the International Committee
on Vocational Guidance.
As 1967-68 Kiwanis International President,
he helped organize European Kiwanis clubs into the European Federation
and expanded the organization into Asia. He gave the Kiwanis International
Foundation a boost by initiating the annual Birthday Gift, the forerunner
of today’s Annual Club Gift Campaign.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Katherine
Watson Moler.
