Aktion Club fundraiser cool as ice

Watch out, NASCAR, ice hockey is gaining fans in North Carolina.

The Aktion Club of South Mecklenburg teamed with the ARC of Mecklenburg and the Charlotte Checkers hockey team to host a “Night on Ice” fundraiser. One-half of the US$12 ticket price went directly to benefit the Aktion Club.

“The Aktion Club received $600 from the event, and that takes us a long way,” says Lauren Mullis, advocacy and event coordinator for the ARC of Mecklenburg. “It took some coaxing for folks to buy tickets. Hockey isn’t that big down here in the south;but once they go, they love it. It’s truly awesome.”
