Tomorrow Fund surpasses goal of US$160,000
Circle K International 2004-05 President Troy C. Dibley and the International
Board set some lofty goals for this past administrative year, leading
to unprecedented achievements. The result: Troy “shaved the wave.”
The
Board announced three main goals for the year. One, to raise US$76,000
for the Tomorrow Fund, bringing the total to $160,000; two, to grow membership
to 13,500 members; and three, to register 625,000 service hours.
Circle K’ers came through and met one of these goals, and came oh-so-close
to meeting the other two.
Troy promised that if Circle K met his challenge to bring the Tomorrow
Fund total to $160,000, he’d shave his head. Thus, the “Shave the Wave”
campaign was born. The $160,000 was raised (and more is coming in), and
Troy accepted a clipping center stage during the 50th Annual International
Convention in Greensboro, North Carolina, this past August.
CKI didn’t quite meet its other two goals, but it did come close. The
organization registered more than one-half million service hours, and
increased its membership to 13,313 members—an increase of 8.56 percent.
