Kiwanis Kids catalyst for service, success
Three Kiwanis-sponsored programs tailored to elementary schoolchildren
begin the 2005-06 school year redesigned and repackaged, but the end product
is far from being the “same ol,’ same ol.’”
The revamped trio—K-Kids, Terrific Kids, and Bring Up Grades
(BUG)—now are components of an overall program dubbed, “Kiwanis
Kids.” Combining the three into one gives muscle to Kiwanis’ focus on
schoolchildren by making it possible for Kiwanis clubs to present them
simultaneously to schools.
“These programs benefit children, so it made sense to combine them as
Kiwanis Kids,” notes Lisa Pyron, Kiwanis Kids program specialist. “K-Kids
cultivates a love for service, while Terrific Kids promotes character
development, and BUG recognizes students who raise their grades. Melding
them into one initiative provides a powerful tool for clubs and schools
working together in the overall development of students.”
In addition to a single brochure showcasing all three programs, clubs
can order enhanced literature to help them implement Kiwanis Kids—as well
as all-inclusive kits that include signage, a guidebook, recognition items,
and promotional materials—by contacting the Member Services Department
at the International Office at 317-875-8755, ext. 390. Most of the materials
also can be downloaded—and additional information obtained—by accessing
the Kiwanis
Kids Web site. |
