Convention highlights best of Key Club

Nearly 1,600 Key Club members attended the 63rd Annual Key Club International Convention, set in Boston, Massachusetts, this past July.

The Swashbucklin’ Service Fair mixes fun, service, and education.
The Swashbucklin’ Service Fair mixes fun, service, and education.

With their usual enthusiasm and spirit, the Key Clubbers attended general sessions filled with inspirational speeches, entertainment, and awards. In workshops, they learned about such diverse topics as how to “Be an ‘it’ person” and how they can help the March of Dimes. They celebrated service at the Swashbucklin’ Service Fair, dressed the part for dances with the themes of “I love the ’80s” and “boot scootin’ boogie,” and oohed and aahhed over the July 4th fireworks display on the Charles River.

In the midst of all the fun and fellowship, delegates helped shape the future of the organization by voting to change the method of caucusing and adding the option to vote “no confidence” for the offices of President and Vice-President. In addition, dues collection now allows for varying schedules based on a nation’s academic calendar. Amendments passed during the International Convention will be brought before the Kiwanis International Board for approval before they are enacted.

In addition, the House of Delegates elected a new Key Club International Board: (You must be a registered with the Member Community to view.)
