Days in the life of a child
“Hi, Mommy! I’m so glad to be here.”
So begins the first page of the Mommy and Me child-development calendars distributed by the Kiwanis Club of Moses Lake, Washington, to new parents.

Planning process:
Describe how club members identified a need.
A new member had worked with teen mothers at the Columbia Basin Alternative High School and had been accumulating information and resources that would be helpful to young mothers.
Describe (any) committees formed to handle specific responsibilities.
Our club’s Young Children: Priority One committee helped with review of content and got commitments from sponsors.
Did the club publicize the service project? If so, how was this done?

Describe activities that took place the day of the event.
Deliveries of Mommy and Me child-development calendars to the hospital for distribution to new parents.
Describe the impact the service project had on club members? What did club members learn from this service project?
Members appreciated the opportunity to help new families and found other organizations willing to collaborate.
Share results of follow-up interviews:
A maternity nurse talked about the visiting nurses who say the calendar is really useful, especially for those mothers who are living in extreme poverty with little access to other resources.
