Here's a K-Kids issue to care about

Making a difference because they care

The Owosso (Michigan) Middle School Builders Club is helping feed the needy in Asia and Africa. This past school year, the club joined Washington Elementary School in raising more than $1,730 for Heifer International, a global, nonprofit relief organization that uses monetary donations to purchase livestock for those in need. The club used a variety of fundraisers to raise the cash: Cans for Cows (soda cans), Coins for Cows (loose change), Cocoa for Cows, and Cookies for Cows.

The October issue of Builders Bloc contains articles that illustrate the organization's core values.
The October issue of Builders Bloc contains articles that illustrate the organization's core values.

By responding to the plight of families halfway around the world, Owosso students demonstrated one of the core values of Builders Club: caring, a trait that is the theme of the October 2007 edition of Builders Bloc, the official publication of Builders Club.

In addition to a resource, Builders Club members can use to cultivate their sense of caring, the issue will include articles about and photos of Builders Club “good deed doers,” valuable tips for Builders Club advisors and parents, and important information about this year’s Builders Club contests.

Copies of Builders Bloc will be distributed to schools and advisors later this month. If you don’t receive a copy—or want extras—e-mail Builders Bloc or call 317-217-6168.
