Hospital opens multifaith chapel

"So a priest, a rabbi, and an Imam walk into a press conference," reports The West Island Chronicle. "No, it's not the opening line to a bad joke; it's a reality after the Lakeshore General Hospital unveiled its ... multifaith chapel and prayer room."

Supported by a CAD$12,000 grant from the Lakeshore, Montreal, Quebec, Kiwanis club, the room features pews, kneelers, an area that requires worshippers to remove their shoes, and nonspecific art. And it faces Mecca.

"It's a chapel-plus," Rabbi Mardecai Zeitz said during the recent dedication of the chapel.
